Hyderabad: The Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) on Wednesday inaugurated three state-of-the-art medical devices worth Rs. 40 lakh for its physiotherapy department.
The newly launched equipment includes Dynamometry (Force Measurement System) to assess muscle strength, joint mobility and balance, a Foot Pressure Analysis System, and the latest version of Shortwave Diathermy (SWD).
While the Foot Pressure Analysis System will enable physiotherapists to evaluate gait, posture, foot pressure distribution, balance and orthotic needs, the Shortwave Diathermy will provide deep tissue therapy for pain relief, inflammation and injuries, a press release said.
The devices will benefit patients with a wide range of medical conditions including diabetic foot care, sports injuries, orthopaedic and neurological rehabilitation, arthritis, ligament injuries, chronic inflammation, frozen shoulder and venous degenerative conditions.
The new equipment was inaugurated by NIMS Director Prof. Nagari Beerappa in the presence of senior doctors from the hospital.
