Hyderabad: Two state-of-the-art medical devices procured for the Surgical Gastroenterology department of Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), with a cost of Rs 2 crore, were launched on Thursday.

The Karl Storz 4K TL-400 Rubina laparoscopic tower with ICG system provides high-definition visualisation and Near-Infrared Fluorescence Imaging during minimally invasive surgeries. The high-end device will allow for more precise and safer surgeries, a press release from NIMS said.

The Olympus CV-170 Endoscopy and Colonoscopy System is capable of providing superior image quality and plays a key role in the early detection and easier treatment of the severity of gastrointestinal diseases. This device provides doctors with better clinical understanding both during and in the post-operative stages of surgery.

Speaking on the occasion, Director, NIMs, Dr Nagari Bheerappa said that the modern equipment will go a long way in enhancing the accuracy, safety, and efficiency in patient diagnosis and treatment. Senior doctors and medical staff from the hospital were present.
