Warangal: Government has accorded administrative sanction to upgrade nine Community Health Centres (CHCs) or Area Hospitals to District Hospitals under the National Health Mission (NHM) on Wednesday. Health Secretary SAZ Rizvi has issued the GO MS 149 to this effect. While three CHCs – Narsampet, Mahabubabad, Mulugu and Bhupalpally- are from the erstwhile Warangal district, the five others are; Naryanpet, Gadwal, Sircilla, Asifabad and Nirmal CHCs. The government has also sanctioned Rs 491.30 crore for the upgradation of these Area Hospitals and for the construction of the buildings and purchasing the medical equipment.

While Rs 46.35 crore have been sanctioned for Mahabubabad area hospital, Rs 52.55 crore have been sanctioned for Bhupalpally area hospital and Rs 66.36 for the Narsampet Area Hospital (CHC). Mulugu Area Hospital has been sanctioned Rs 52.13 crore.

Speaking to Telangana Today, Narsampet MLA Peddi Sudharshan Reddy said that the people of Narsampet were happy to know that the government upgraded the 50-bed CHC into a 250-bed district hospital. “The State government has given a good message to the people of Narsampet constituency as a Diwali gift by upgrading the hospital. It has sanctioned Rs. 66.36 crore for the construction of new buildings and modern medical equipment. The new and modern hospital building will come up on the land donated by industrialist of Lingagiri village Dodda Mohan Rao,” he said and added that the complete medical services would be made available for the people of Narsampet within two years in the new hospital. It may be added here that the government had already sanctioned Rs 18.75 crore towards civil works (construction of the building) for the Mahabubabad Area Hospital as the government had already announced government medical college for Mahabubabad.
