Hyderabad: Nine persons were arrested by Balapur police for allegedly selling a minor girl to a Mumbai man for Rs. 3 lakh.
The arrested persons are identified as Syed Altaf Ali, Akhil Ahmed, Zareena Begum, Shabana Begum, Shameem Sulthana, Nasreen Begum, Zahaida Begum, Arshia Begum and Chand Sultana.
According to the police, Altaf Ali, who is from Mumbai, had divorced his first wife and was looking for a young girl to stay along. He approached Akhil Ahmed, a broker from Quba colony in Shaheennagar, who in turn contacted Zareeena, Shabana, Shameem, Nasreen and Zahaida seeking help him in finding a girl.
“Akhil with the help of others identified a minor girl who is a resident of Errakunta and convinced her mother to sell the victim for Rs. 3 lakh. After a deal was stuck, Altaf Ali came to the city. On information, the police raided the house and arrested them,” said Rachakonda Commissioner, Mahesh Muralidhar Bhagwat.
A case under Section 370, 370 (A) r/w 511 IPC, Section 17 of POCSO Act and Sections 3 & 5 of Immoral Traffic Act is booked. All the arrested persons were remanded.
