Nine booked after clash at mosque in Adilabad village

Nine persons were booked for allegedly assaulting three persons with sticks and stones at a mosque in Keshavapatnam village of Adilabad district. Police said the clash followed an argument between two groups over the use of a road

Adilabad: Nine persons were booked on Friday for allegedly abusing and assaulting three persons with sticks and stones at a mosque in Keshavapatnam village of Echoda mandal on Tuesday.

Police said a case was registered against Adil, SK Rafeeq, SK Kalam, SK Taufik, SK Sohail, Sharukh, SK Tabriz, Shaik Shakeel and SK Nazeer for allegedly attacking Shaik Aneesh, his brother Shaik Idris, Saleem and others with sticks and stones following a tiff between the two groups over a petty issue.

The nine allegedly picked an argument with Aneesh and his father-in-law Ramzan over their use of a road at the mosque on September 9. On learning about the incident, Idris, Saleem and others questioned the nine persons about why they had objected to Aneesh.

Adil and the others reportedly assaulted the three after they confronted them. The clash triggered tension in the village for a brief period.
