Nine-year-old girl raped, teenager arrested in Hyderabad
The suspect, H. Sumeeth (19), is a band worker residing at Afzalsagar of Mallepally and is allegedly addicted to marijuana and alcohol, police said.
Hyderabad: A teenager was arrested late on Thursday for allegedly raping a minor girl at Mangalhat.
The suspect, H. Sumeeth (19), is a band worker residing at Afzalsagar of Mallepally and is allegedly addicted to marijuana and alcohol, police said.
On Wednesday night, the nine-year-old girl’s family had returned home after Ganesh idol immersion. Her father then picked up a fight with her mother and beat her. Following this, the mother went to the Habeeb Nagar police station to lodge a complaint, leaving her children including the victim in their house as they were sleeping. The police then summoned her father to the station and the couple was counseled.
According to the police, the victim who woke up from her sleep found that her parents were not home and went out searching for them. Around 1 am on Thursday, Sumeeth found her alone and lured her saying he would search for them and took her to a secluded place, where he raped her.
As the child began screaming for help, Sumeeth fled the spot. Hearing her scream, neighbours rushed to her rescue. Her parents, who returned home, were informed of the incident and they lodged a complaint with the Mangalhat Police.
A case was registered and special teams were formed and they collected clues about the suspect. On verifying CCTV footage, he was identified and arrested.
