Nirmal: Fake video clip of tiger goes viral on social media

Forest officials clarified that the video related to a tiger moving in northern states. The tiger seen in the clip does not belong to Nirmal.

Nirmal: A fake video clip was circulated on social media platforms, claiming it was of a tiger sighted in the forests of Khanapur division on Friday.

In the video clip, a tiger was seen moving in the forests of a region. The users claimed that the tiger was sighted in the forests of Khanapur, triggering panic among locals. They widely shared the 21 seconds long video clip groups of WhatsApp and Facebook. The clip instantly went viral on social media platforms.


However, forest officials clarified that the video related to a tiger moving in northern states. The tiger seen in the clip does not belong to Nirmal. The clip might have been shot in the reserves of some northern states, Nirmal in-charge District Forest Officer SA Nagini Banu said. She advised users to verify facts with the officials before sharing photographs and video clip of wildlife.
