NIT Warangal to confer degrees on 1,997 students at 24th Convocation

NIT Warangal will confer degrees on 1,997 students during its two-day 24th Convocation on September 19 and 20. The ceremony will include undergraduate, postgraduate, Ph.D. and exit degrees, besides honorary doctorates and gold medals for academic excellence.

Warangal: As many as 1,997 students would be presented degrees at the two-day 24th Convocation ceremony of National Institute of Technology (NIT) Warangal.

Speaking to the media here on Friday, NITW Director Prof Bidyadhar Subudhi informed that undergraduate students would be conferred degrees on September 19, while postgraduate and Ph.D. graduates would be conferred degrees on September 20.


Texas Instruments India Managing Director Santhosh Kumar would be the chief guest at the convocation, which would be chaired by NITW Board of Governors Chairman Dr. BVR Mohan Reddy, who is also the founder Chairman of Cyient, an Indian multinational tech company.

The US-based Optimal Synthesis Inc. Chairman, CEO and Chief Scientist Dr. Padmanabhan K Menon would be conferred Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) degree in recognition of his contribution to innovative applications of automatic control technologies to aviation and aerospace engineering.

Country Head for Micron India Anand Ramamoorthy would be conferred honorary Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in recognition of his contribution to advancing India’s semiconductor ambitions through visionary technology leadership.

The degrees to be conferred during the 24th Convocation include 930 undergraduate degrees, 945 postgraduate degrees, 100 Ph.D. degrees and 22 exit degrees. Siddhi Barpute of B.Tech (chemical engineering) would be presented with the Director’s Gold Medal for academic excellence.

Roll of Honour Gold Medalists (undergraduate) would be: Priyanshu Kumar Singh of civil engineering, Nalajala Joshit of electrical and electronics engineering, Valusa Raghuvaran of mechanical engineering, Dondapati Lokeshwar of electronics and communication engineering, Madagani Sathvik of metallurgical and materials engineering, Siddhi Barpute of chemical engineering, Jayanthi Anshu of computer science and engineering and Aman Abdulsamad Inamdar of biotechnology.

Director’s Gold Medal for Academic Excellence would be presented to Adepu Anjali (M.Tech) of electrical engineering, and Jalumedi Bharani (M.Sc. (Tech) of engineering physics, the Director revealed.

The other awardees include Budda Jeshwanthi of mechanical engineering (Best B.Tech project work), Atkare Sarthak Vinod of mechanical engineering (Best M.Tech dissertation) and Dr. Apurba Borah of the Department of Chemistry (Best Ph.D. thesis), he added.

Deputy Director Prof Ratish Kumar, Dean (Academic) Prof Venkaiah Chowdary and Registrar Sunil Kumar Mehta were present.
