Warangal: The National Institute of Technology (NIT), Warangal, has slipped to the 59th position in the overall rankings of the higher educational institutions (HEI) as per the National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF) rankings in 2020-21.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan released India Rankings 2021 instituted by the NIRF, in New Delhi on Thursday.
In the last year’s rankings, NITW stood at the 46th place, but it failed to improve its performance causing a fall in the rankings. On the other hand, the Institute shared the 23rd position with Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (TIET), Patiala, among all the engineering institutes across the country. In the last year (2019-20) rankings, it managed to secure the 19th rank. However, it has remained in the same position with 4th place among the NITs this year too.
Meanwhile, Prof NV Ramana Rao, Director NIT, Warangal, said that the NITW had secured better rank in the NIRF-2021 rankings. He congratulated the faculty, non-faculty officers and employees of NIT Warangal for their collective efforts to achieve a good position in the NIRF rankings. “In future, efforts will be made to place NIT, Warangal on top of the category among all the technical institutes in the country,” he added.
