Hyderabad: The experienced Nizam Basketball Academy brushed aside the challenge of Good Training Academy 77-45 after leading 41-30 at half time in the BM John Vinayasager Basketball Tournament being conducted by YMCA Secunderabad Alumni at YMCA Secunderabad on Tuesday.
The match started evenly with both teams matching basket to basket. Dhanush and Raja scored for Good Training, whereas Balaji, Charan and Majid combined well to find the net for Nizam BA. Aided by steals from Anthony and Teja, resulting in fast breaks, Nizam BA took the first quarter 21-15. In the second quarter, Raja and Shivaraj netted a three-pointer each for Good Training. However, Charan and Balaji dominated from the paint for Nizam BA as they led 41-30 at half time. After the lemon break, Nizam BA tightened their defence to restrict Good Training to just one point and in turn scored 22 points through Balaji, Majid and Arvind to take a decisive 63-31 lead at the end of the third quarter. In the last quarter, Good Training fought hard but the lead was too much to recover and finally Nizam BA won the match 77-45.
