Nizam Basketball Academy shine with 12 three-pointers

Nizam Basketball Academy scored 12 three-pointers to beat City College Old Boys 97-61 in the Samuel Vasanth Kumar memorial basketball tournament at YMCA Secunderabad. YMCA Secunderabad and Keystone Basketball Academy also registered big wins in their respective matches

Hyderabad: Nizam Basketball Academy showcased fine shooting skills, scoring 12 three-pointers to outclass City College Old Boys 97-61 after leading 49-27 at half-time in the Samuel Vasanth Kumar Memorial Basketball Tournament, organised by the Sports Writers Association of Telangana at YMCA Secunderabad.

In the late evening matches on Tuesday, top seeds YMCA Secunderabad and strong title contenders Keystone Basketball Academy breezed past their opponents SSBA (90-43) and YMG (110-67) respectively.


Nizam BA started with a three-pointer through Majid and set the tone by scoring four three-pointers in their first-quarter score of 26. City College OB relied on the height of Manideep to score from the paint as Nizam BA led 26-17 at the end of the first quarter. Nizam BA continued their scoring spree in the second quarter, adding 23 points and restricting City College OB to just 10 points to lead 49-27 at half-time. After the change of ends, Nizam BA maintained the same momentum and won the match comfortably 97-61.

YMCA Secunderabad 90 (Rakesh 19; Krishna 15; Sam 15; Allen 13; Rohan 11; Rehan 11) bt SS Basketball Academy 43 (Karthik 16; Jaswanth 19). Half-time: 60-24.

Nizam Basketball Academy 97 (Majid 33, Aravind 27, Abhiram 11) bt CCOB 61 (Manideep 21, Daniyal 18).

Keystone Basketball Academy 110 (Vishwak 33, Chandra 22) bt Young Men Guild 67 (Shahrukh 27, Garvit 20, Ankit 12).
