Nizam Sagar receives steady inflows after rains in Medak, Sangareddy
Nizam Sagar continued to receive steady inflows following moderate to heavy rainfall in the Manjeera river catchment across Sangareddy and Medak districts. With more rain forecast, water levels are expected to rise further, benefiting Vanakalam paddy transplantation.
Medak: The Nizam Sagar project has been receiving steady inflows since Tuesday morning due to moderate to heavy rains in the catchment area of the Manjeera river in Sangareddy and Medak districts. Even though there were no rains in the Manjeera catchment upstream of Singur in Maharashtra and Karnataka, Sangareddy and Medak districts received considerable rainfall during the past fortnight.
Nizam Sagar was receiving 7,789 cusecs of water at 6 pm on Tuesday. The water storage reached 9.18 TMCft against its full storage capacity of 17.80 TMCft. As more rains are expected over the next few days in these parts of the State, the project is likely to receive substantial inflows, which would eventually boost Vanakalam paddy transplantation.
