Nizamabad: After Covid-19 vaccination people are unable to donate blood till three months period, because of it reducing blood reserves at blood banks all over the State. By seeing it Red cross members donate the blood on the occasion of the Red Cross Day on Saturday. Among them, two members aged above 50 years donated blood for more than 50 times.
Every year Red Cross day celebrates on May 8 on the occasion of its founder Henry Dunant’s birthday. On the occasion, Nizamabad Red Cross Society organised celebrations and conducted a blood donation camp at Red Cross Blood Bank on Saturday.
On the occasion, Red Cross state Executive Council (EC) member Thota Rajashekhar donated blood for the 71st time while having his age 54 years. Another member Purushottam Reddy donated blood on the 54th time and his age is 48 years.
Rajashekhar said that he has been donating blood once in every four months for the last 30 years. By donating blood, one can produce new blood cells in the body and improve one’s health condition as well as serve the society. He appealed to people to donate their blood, particularly in this Covid-19 pandemic.
Another blood donor Purushottam Reddy said that he donate blood today for 54th time. He said that after Covid vaccination, people were unable to donate blood for the next three months. Due to this reason, the blood reserves are reducing in blood banks and appealed to people to donate blood before vaccination and help society.
Nizamabad Red Cross Chairman Dr. Neeli Ramchander appreciated the blood donors and said that their Red Cross is serving the society by performing social service camps and gave a call for blood donation.
