HYDERABAD: G Soumya of Nizamabad, who also led Indian women’s football team earlier, was adjudged ‘Best Player of the Year’ for 2024-25 season in women’s category.

Soumya was felicitated by the All India Football Federation at Bhubaneswar.

Telangana Football Association secretary G Palguna, Muzzaffar Ali, vice-president of TFA, were present and said it was a fitting recognition to an outstanding footballer.

“We hope and wish that Soumya continues to represent India at the highest level and bring laurels,” the TFA secretary said.

For the record, Soumya started playing football in 2012 under the tutelage of the dedicated coach G Nagaraju, who runs the Care Football Academy in Nizamabad.
