No alliance with BJP or NDA in Maharashtra: Owaisi
AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi has ruled out any alliance with the BJP or NDA in Maharashtra after the party won 125 seats in municipal elections. The party is now preparing for upcoming civic polls in Telangana.
Hyderabad: The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president, Asaduddin Owaisi, said there would be no alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) or the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Maharashtra.
The AIMIM had won 125 seats in the municipal corporation elections in Maharashtra held on January 15.
Speaking at a press conference on Saturday, Asaduddin Owaisi said that both Hindus and Dalits were also among those who won on the AIMIM ticket. He thanked Almighty for the victory and extended his gratitude to the voters and party workers for their efforts. He instructed the party’s Maharashtra corporators to remain among the people and work diligently in their respective wards.
The party had won seats in Aurangabad, Amravati, Mumbra, Govandi, Dhule, Akola, Nanded, Malegaon, Ahmednagar, Jalna, Solapur and Parbhani municipal corporations.
Meanwhile, the AIMIM party is gearing up for the municipal elections in Telangana and has invited applications from those interested in contesting the elections. In a press release, the party stated interested candidates have to submit the applications to the town president of the respective district and the latter forward it to the party headquarters in Hyderabad. The last date for submission of applications is January 20.
