Hyderabad: AIMIM Floor Leader Akbaruddin Owaisi’s comments that there was ‘no difference between the BJP and Congress’ in their approach towards Muslim community and that they were specifically targeting the community in the garb of demolitions, triggered a political uproar.
“In Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath is using bulldozers to demolish dargahs, mosques and houses of poor Muslims. In Telangana, A Revanth Reddy is also following suit with the same intensity. Their enmity towards Muslims is clear,” Akbaruddin Owaisi said in a video, which is circulating on social media.
His comments bear political significance as the AIMIM has been extending support to the Congress ever since it came to power in the State. In the recent Jubilee Hills by-poll too, the party had supported the Congress.
However, the AIMIM Floor Leader’s comments have triggered a political uproar in the State.
The BJP State unit has strongly condemned Akbaruddin Owaisi’s comments and stated that it was irresponsible on his part to make such comments.
“He is not an ordinary man and we give a lot of respect because he is an elected representative. But whether it is a selective outrage or a political positioning, when you compare him with CM Yogi of Uttar Pradesh, he has been constructive. He is against criminals, against illegal constructions that take place,” BJP Spokesperson NV Subhash said.
In a video, the BJP Spokesperson condemned Akbaruddin Owaisi’s comments and called them irresponsible statements.
