No new projects to Telangana under Swadesh Darshan scheme

Hyderabad: Union Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy said the Ministry of Tourism was not sanctioning any new projects to Telangana under its Swadesh Darshan scheme.
He shared these details in reply to Bhongir MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy’s question in Lok Sabha about allocation of funds for development of forts and infrastructure at the places in Telangana.
Bhongir MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy had sought details from the Union Tourism Ministry regarding allocation of funds for laying cable car (ropeway), rappelling practice facility, laser shows, rock climbing school in Telangana particularly Bhongir Fort, Kolanupaka, Phanigiri, Buddhavanam project at Vijayapuri near Nagarjuna Sagar.
In reply, Union Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy said Ministry of Tourism under Swadesh Darshan scheme provides financial assistance to State Governments, including Telangana for development of tourism infrastructure. The projects sanctioned under Swadesh Darshan scheme include development of tourism facilities such as rappelling, sound & light shows, adventure equipment, cafeteria, conference hall, Illumination of forts, museums, etc.
In 2015-16, under Eco Circuit, Integrated Development of Eco Tourism Circuit project was approved in Mahaboobnagar. Accordingly, Rs 91.62 crore was sanctioned and Rs.87.04 crore was released. Of these, Rs.77.45 crore was utilised.
In 2016-17, under Tribal Circuit, Integrated Development of Mulugu,Laknavaram,Medavaram,Tadvai,Damaravi,Mallur and Bogatha Waterfalls project was cleared. Towards this, Rs.79.87 crore and Rs.75.88 crore released and Rs.68.9 crore was utilised.
In 2017-18, under Heritage Circuit, Development of Heritage Circuit covering Qutub Shahi Heritage Park, Paigah Tombs, Hayat Bakshi Mosque and Raymond’s Tomb project was approved. Accordingly, Rs.96.9 crore was sanctioned and Rs.70.61 crore and Rs.45.30 crore was utilized.
