Mancherial: Government whip Balka Suman said that no one in the history of India envisaged a scheme on the lines of Rythu Bandhu.
He organised a massive tractor rally from Chennur town to Kyathanpalli municipality, covering a distance of 40 kilometres and braving intermittent drizzle as part of the concluding ceremony of Rythu Bandhu celebrations aimed at expressing gratitude to Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao for implementing the scheme, on Wednesday.
Addressing farmers and participants of the rally in Kyathanpalli, Suman opined that the initiative had become a boon to the agrarian community, strengthening the weak farming sector. He said that India witnessed a milestone moment with the State government releasing Rs 50,000 crore to implement the scheme by January 10. A total of Rs 360 crore was credited to accounts of farmers.
The government whip further said that Chandrashekhar Rao introduced many novel initiatives such as Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme, revitalising of irrigation tanks under Mission Kakatiya, Rythu Bima, Rythu Bandhu and Rythu Vedika, etc., He stated that one lakh acres would be irrigation with the help of Kaleshwaram project.
The Chennur MLA asserted that it was no mean feat to cover 63 lakh farmers through the first-of-its-kind crop investment support schemes being implemented in the country for the first time. He observed that the initiative stood as a source of inspiration in strengthening the farming sector which was reeling under crisis. The introduction of the scheme indicates the vision and able administration of Rao, he added.
