Hyderabad: Finance Minister T Harish Rao on Wednesday slammed the BJP government at the Centre for increasing petrol prices consistently.

“Why are petrol prices increasing in the country when rates across the globe are dropping? In the name of cess, the government is increasing fuel prices,” he said, addressing a MLC polls preparatory meeting in Parigi.

Harish Rao said there was no Rythu Bandhu or Rythu Bima scheme in any BJP-ruled States, nor were there Shaadi Mubarak, Kalyana Lakshmi or piped drinking water to every household.

“The BJP leaders have the habit of speaking more and working less. Telangana is the only State where farmers are getting free quality power supply. Karnataka and Maharashtra police officials visited Hyderabad and appreciated the activities of SHE Teams,” he said.

Pointing out that the BJP promised to provide two crore jobs every year, the Minister wondered what happened to these jobs. He also flayed the Central government for its attempts to privatise public sector undertakings and rendering many people jobless.

Harish Rao alleged the Centre was rendering injustice to SCs and STs and criticised the BJP MLC candidate N Ramachander Rao for contesting three elections in the last 30 months.

“Why should we vote for BJP? Can BJP leaders tell us one good work done for the State? Did the Central government give railway coach factory in Kazipet? Why is Centre not giving Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR) in Hyderabad?” he questioned.

Harish Rao lambasted BJP leaders for unnecessarily criticising Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao.
