Hyderabad: Three years after the Osmania University College for Women, Koti, was upgraded into Telangana’s first women’s university, the State government is yet to sanction a single new faculty post.

Currently, only 20 regular faculty members are on the rolls of Veeranari Chakali Ilamma Women’s University, while over 100 contract teachers are extending their services. Even these regular faculty members have been given an option to choose between the present university and Osmania University, as the Koti Women’s College was earlier a constituent of OU.

As per sources, a majority of the regular teachers have opted for OU. Even if the Women’s University teachers opt for OU, they have to continue serving in the same place until new appointments are made, the sources added.
