Nalgonda: District Collector Prashant Jeevan Patil on Saturday clarified that the farmers, who are willing to take paddy crops to IKP and PACS paddy procurement centers for sale, need not get tokens from the officials for crop harvesting.
Addressing media along with the Superintendent of Police AV Ranganath and Additional District Collector V Chandrasekhar, the district Collector said that token for crop harvesting would not be applicable to the farmers, IKP and PACS paddy procurement centres. It was applicable to the farmers, who take their paddy crop to the rice mills for sale. Tokens were made mandatory for farmers, who cultivated preferred varieties of paddy and wanted to sell the crop at the rice mills, he added.
Referring to the piling up of paddy-loaded tractors at rice mills in the Miryalaguda area, he said 80 rice mills located at Miryalaguda were capable of processing 1,700 to 2,000 tractors paddy load. He added that the tokens system was introduced to avoid the piling up of paddy vehicles at the rice mills. He said that 1,500 tickets were being issued to farmers of Nalgonda district and 300 tokens for farmers of Suryapet district. He said that it was decided to increase the number of tokens for the convenience of the farmers. In the next four days, the total number of tokens would be increased to 2,400. A token would be issued to a farmer for every three acres of land.
Ranganath said that arrangements were made for the issuance of tokens for crop cutting at Rythu Vedikas. He asked the farmers to bring paddy to the procurement centres only after drying the harvested crop.
