Hyderabad: There will be no water supply in certain areas of Hyderabad from 8 am on March 7 and up to 8 pm on March 8.
Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board in an official release on Thursday said that the affected areas include Manikonda, Kokapet, Narsingi, Manchirevula and other areas. The water supply to Shaikpet reservoir will be completely stopped and water supply will be provided to the Bhojagutta area at low pressure. Water supply will be completely stopped for the areas covered under Transmission I and II.
“Due to the 35-year-old HT (High Tension) electrical panels in the pump house of Manjira Phase-3, Peddapur Pump, which supplies drinking water to Hyderabad city, being removed and replaced with new panels, the water supply will be affected. At the same time, repair work is being carried out by replacing the air valves in the 1600 mm dia pumping main pipeline from Peddapur to Singapore, as well as the air vents in the 2000 mm dia gravity main pipeline from Singapore to Peddapur,” it said.
These works will be carried out from 8 am on March 7 and up to 8 pm on March 8. Therefore, during these 36 hours, there will be water supply at low pressure in some areas mentioned below, and there will be interruption in supply in some other areas, according to the official release.
Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board urged consumers affected by the disruption to use water sparingly.
