Not all MoUs signed with investors materialise, admits Industries Minister Sridhar Babu

Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu told the Assembly that the Telangana government had signed 108 MoUs with investors, of which nearly half have already been grounded. He said while not all agreements materialise due to financial and other factors, the government is working to ensure implementation.

Hyderabad: Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu acknowledged that not all Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) signed with investors materialise due to various factors, including financial closure.

During Question Hour in the Assembly on Friday, the Minister said the State government had signed 108 MoUs with entrepreneurs and companies for investments in Telangana during 2025 and 2026.

The MoUs were at various stages of implementation. The government classifies each proposal as grounded, operational, under implementation or under processing, he said.

Of the MoUs signed during the State government’s Davos visits over the past two years, nearly 45 per cent had already been grounded. Similarly, of the 75 MoUs signed at the previous Telangana Rising Global Summit, 17 projects had already commenced operations. The remaining projects were at various stages of implementation, he said.

“Not all MoUs signed with investors materialise due to different factors, including financial closure of the companies. The State government is making efforts to ensure their implementation on the ground,” Sridhar Babu said.

The Industries Minister further charged that the previous BRS government had proposed setting up Pharma City on the outskirts of Hyderabad with polluting units. The present government was committed to establishing Green Pharma industries at the same location, he added.
