Hyderabad: Spending time with family and friends is the new motto in the world that continues to be ravaged by the pandemic. And for those who feel the urge to dress up and go out once in a while, here is a new avenue in the city. Aimed at those who would like to experience the big screen but only with a closed group, Star Track Group has started Hyderabad’s very own privately held luxury home theatre for families.

“The pandemic changed the way people watched movies. Even though theatres opened up recently, many are still wary. So, we thought why not bring the big screen to a small group and that is how the concept of this private home theatre screening came about,” says Vinay Dhanapalan, business head, Star Track Group.

Almost three generations of the family have been in the business of designing cinema theatres and this private theatre is one of their own. From Sangeeth to Navrang, most of the theatres and single screens have been designed by Vinay’s grandfather and later, his father. His grandfather, late BK Moorthi was a gold medalist from the British Institute of Engineering Technology, London and his father, K Dhanapalan, is armed with a wide range of specialisations in sound engineering and technologies. The group has designed and developed 300-plus theatres all over India.

“As a group, we provide consultation to families on designing home theatres in their homes. When the Covid struck, we realised that it was proving detrimental for families to have fun and so we thought why not have a place for a family to come together and enjoy a movie of their choice or any other content. People can even watch their digital wedding videos or any other content of their choice. We only provide infrastructure and not content” says Vinay Dhanapalan.

Recently, a 19-year-old boy treated his 80-year-old grandfather, who recovered from a major brain stroke to his favourite Telugu classic on the latter’s birthday, Vinay informed. This mini-theatre has a high-end projection and sound system, special night sky effects such as twinkling stars, soft fluffy velvet carpets, cushioned walls for an experience like no other, and super comfy luxury recliners. The private theatre houses three rows of luxury recliners and has a 143-inch screen with a surround sound system and 15 discrete speakers.

The theatre is near SP road Secunderabad and one can visit their website to book the theatre two or three days in advance. People can rent the private home theatre for Rs 1,500 between 12 pm and 4 pm on weekdays and Rs 1,700 on weekends. If you want to book the place during evening hours between 6 pm and 10 pm, then it costs up to Rs 1,700 on weekdays and Rs 1,900 on weekends.
