Hyderabad: In a novel attempt to further intensify the precautionary or booster dose initiative, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation on Monday has launched the concept of administering vaccines at the doorsteps of the beneficiaries, who are above 60 years of age and have pre-existing medical conditions.
To avail the unique facility, senior citizens from Hyderabad just have to dial the GHMC helpline number (040-21111111) and share their address. After that, the vaccinators from the nearest mobile vaccination centre will visit their homes and administer the booster dose.
The eligible senior citizens even do not have to register on the CoWIN App. The mobile vaccination team of GHMC will enrol the beneficiary on the spot while the senior citizen just has to produce his or her Aadhaar card for identity proof.
“We will collect all the details of the callers, segregate it zone wise and forward it to the mobile vaccinations teams. This exercise will help the teams to prepare a route map and the vaccination process will pace up,” said a GHMC official.
The municipal corporation appealed to the eligible people to utilise the facility. “Vaccination at doorstep has been taken up on the directions Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao and Health Minister T Harish Rao,” GHMC said.
GHMC officials said that the beneficiaries who receive the vaccination in the house will also be informed about medicines that need to be taken in case of fever. “In addition to that information, we will also guide them about precautionary measures that are needed to be followed to contain the spread of Covid,” a GHMC official said.
“People can also call the same GHMC helpline number for reliable information pertaining to Covid and get their queries answered,” he added. Meanwhile, the Covid containment measures including house-to-house fever surveys are underway in full swing in areas under GHMC. As part of the exercise, in addition to collecting details, the GHMC officials are handing over the home isolation kits wherever it is needed. Spraying of disinfectants in different parts is also being taken up the Entomology wing of the civic body.
