NPDCL officials fined Rs 7,000 for delaying power supply to Kagaznagar function hall
The consumer grievance forum of NPDCL fined officials ₹7,000 for failing to supply electricity to a Kagaznagar function hall despite receiving payment a year ago. The forum also ordered an inquiry and warned of further compensation for non-compliance.
Nizamabad/Kumram Bheem Asifabad: The forum for redressal of consumer grievances of Northern Power Distribution Company Limited (NPDCL) here on Wednesday imposed a penalty of Rs 7,000 against officials of power distributor for not supplying of power to a function hall in Kagaznagar after receiving the cost of connection and transformer a year back.
The forum directed the assistant engineer, assistant divisional engineer and divisional engineer to pay the penalty to Mustafa Ali, the owner of Bandhan Function Hall in Kagaznagar for delaying the supply of electricity to his function hall. It ordered the officials to pay additional compensation Rs 1,000 per day if the penalty was paid within 15 days.

It further directed the divisional engineer to conduct an enquiry into the lapse and take necessary action against officials concerned for erection of a transformer meant for other consumers without consent of Ali at the function hall. It said that it might award compensation of Rs 25,000 to the complaint for non-compliance of the order.
Ali approached the forum when the officials harassed him by showing negligence in providing power to his function hall, but supplied electricity to other consumers living in nearby areas from his power transformer, in September. He claimed that he paid Rs 1.92 lakh towards the transformer and connection in January, 2024.
He alleged that he had paid a bribe of Rs 30,000 to officials. He said that the officials did not address the problem when he brought it to their notice several times citing petty reasons.
