Khammam: An NRI hailing from Mulakalapalli village of Kothagudem district has donated an ambulance as part of ‘GiftASmile’ initiative launched by IT Minister, KT Rama Rao marking his birthday.
Thandra Venkateswara Rao, who now lives in the US, handed over the vehicle in the presence of Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar in Hyderabad on Monday. The vehicle was donated on behalf of Thandra Narayana Rao Memorial Trust.
The Minister appreciated the family of Venkateswara Rao for their kind gesture. It may be noted that KT Rama Rao had donated six ambulances on his birthday last year under ‘GiftASmile’ initiative and this year he announced donation of custom made vehicles to 100 differently-abled persons in his personal capacity as part of the initiative to celebrate his birthday.
Inspired by the generous gesture, Ajay Kumar too had announced on July 22 that he would donate 50 two wheelers to differently-abled persons as part of ‘GiftASmile’ initiative.
