NSUI leader faces attempt to rape charge, suspended in Siddipet
The Siddipet police registered an attempted rape case against NSUI town president Sadulla Sai Pratap, following a complaint by a woman. The Congress party suspended him from primary membership and removed him from his post as the probe continues
Siddipet: The town president of the Congress party’s student wing – the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), Sadulla Sai Pratap was on Monday placed under suspension, after an attempt to rape case was registered against him by the Siddipet police. Sai Pratap allegedly attempted to rape a woman who visited his kirana shop to buy a packet of chips for her children on Sunday.
It was said that Sai Pratap bit the woman at several places leading to bleeding injuries. The incident, however, came to light on Monday as the accused person tried to influence the police which reportedly delayed the registering of the case. The woman was taken to government hospital for treatment of injuries.
The woman, a mother of two children, reportedly visited Kiran General Store run by Sai Pratap, to buy a chips packet for her daughter. In a video statement later, she alleged that Sai Pratap dragged her into the shop and pulled down the shutter. She was beaten up and was bitten leading to bleeding injuries. He continued to attack her despite her fighting back.
He allegedly snatched her gold ‘mangalsutra’ and destroyed her phone and later threatened to kill her entire family if she disclosed the incident to anyone. However, she fled from the scene and informed the police with the help of neighbours.
Following the incident, Congress party town committee suspended him from the party’s primary membership and also removed him from town president post. The one town police registered a case and the probe is on.
