Nuh POCSO court sentences man to 5 years for molesting minor, assaulting family
A Nuh fast-track POCSO court has sentenced a man to five years in prison and fined him Rs 10,000 for molesting a 17-year-old girl and assaulting her family in 2018, police said, adding that non-payment means three additional months
Gurugram: A fast track special POCSO court in Nuh sentenced a man to five years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 for molesting a minor girl and assaulting her family, police said on Wednesday.
The incident occurred in 2018 in a village under the jurisdiction of the Pingawan police station.
On June 6, 2018, at around 4.30 am, the 17-year-old girl stepped outside her home to dispose of garbage. During this time, two young men from the village attempted to grab her while engaging in an obscene act. The girl managed to escape and returned home, where she informed her family about the incident.
Following her report, the family members went to the accused’s house to file a complaint. The next day, around a dozen people, including the accused, visited their home armed with sticks and assaulted the family.
As a result, a pregnant woman from the minor’s family sustained injuries and tragically suffered a miscarriage.
“In this case, on August 5, the court convicted an accused. While pronouncing the sentence on August 11, Additional Sessions Judge Dr Ashu Sanjeev Tinjan sentenced him to five years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000. Failure to pay the fine would result in an additional three months of imprisonment”, said the spokesperson of Nuh police.
