Nurse found murdered in hospital quarters in Pahadishareef, BJP stages protest

A 21-year-old nurse from Khammam was found murdered in her quarters at a private hospital in Hyderabad’s Pahadishareef area. Police suspect foul play, await autopsy results, and have detained a man from Bihar. BJP workers staged a protest at Osmania General Hospital demanding justice.

Hyderabad: A 21-year-old woman working as a nurse at a private hospital was allegedly murdered by a man at the hospital quarters in Pahadishareef police. The police took into custody the suspect who is from Bihar for questioning.

According to Pahadishareef Inspector Lakshminarayana Reddy, the victim, Sirisha, a native of Khammam district, had been working as a nurse at a private hospital for the past eight months and residing in the quarters provided by the hospital.

Sirisha reportedly went into her room around 10 pm on Friday and did not come out until Saturday afternoon. When hospital staff noticed that she was not responding to their calls, they broke open a window and found her dead inside the room.

On receiving information police reached the spot and examined the scene. Police found injuries on Sirisha’s face, raising suspicion that she had been attacked and killed. The police said that they are awaiting the postmortem report and would comment on sexual assault angle only after they get the autopsy report.

Clues teams and a dog squad were pressed into service to collect evidence and samples from the scene. The body was shifted to Osmania General Hospital (OGH) for post-mortem examination. Police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.

Meanwhile, tension prevailed at Osmania General Hospital on Sunday afternoon when BJP workers staged a dharna, demanding that the police conduct a thorough investigation into the death and ensure justice for the victim. The police beefed up security at the OGH mortuary.
