Warangal Urban: Medical and Health department officials seized Akshya Nursing Home, Kothawada, in Warangal city for carrying out illegal abortions.

On receiving information about the illegal abortions, the authorities inspected the nursing home at midnight on Tuesday and found a 16-year-old girl and a woman waiting for abortion at the hospital. “We conducted ‘Panchanama’ in the presence of revenue, police and child protection officers and sealed the hospital since there was no doctor and no proper maintenance of records,” said District Medical and Health Officer (DMH) Dr K Lalitha Devi in a press note here on Wednesday.

The hospital management violated the Telangana Allopathic Private Medical Care Establishments (Registration and Regulation) Act, 2002 and The Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP) Act, 1971. “We admitted the girl and the woman at CKM Hospital as they were already given pills for abortion,” the DMHO added.

Additional DMHO Dr T Madanmohan Rao, District Surveillance Officer Dr Sri Krishna Rao, Warangal Tahsildhar Mohammed Iqbal, Sub-Inspector Srinivas Reddy, DEMO V Ashok Reddy, CDPO Vishwaja,  staff of Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS) Srinivas, Supervisor Viplav Kumar and J Ramesh participated in the inspection.
