Odisha reports 730 new COVID-19 cases, 16 fresh fatalities
Mayurbhanj district registered the highest number of new cases at 68, followed by Khurda (65) and Sundargarh (57).

Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s COVID-19 tally mounted to 3,16,001 on Wednesday as 730 more people tested positive for the infection, a health official said.
Sixteen more patients succumbed to the infection, pushing the coastal state’s coronavirus death toll to 1,687, he said.

As many as 419 new cases were reported in quarantine centres, while 311 infections were detected during contact tracing, the official said.
Mayurbhanj district registered the highest number of new cases at 68, followed by Khurda (65) and Sundargarh (57), he said.
Four fresh fatalities were reported in Sundargarh, three in Puri, two in Khurda and one each in Angul, Bargarh, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Ganjam and Jajpur districts, the official said.
Khurda district, under which Bhubaneswar falls, has so far reported the highest number of coronavirus fatalities at 283, followed by Ganjam (240), Sundargarh (136) and Cuttack (134), he said.
Fifty-three coronavirus patients have died due to comorbidities to date, the official said.
The state now has 6,887 active coronavirus cases, while 3,07,374 people have recovered from the disease so far, he said.
Odisha has so far tested over 56.85 lakh samples for COVID-19, including 43,453 on Tuesday, he said, adding the state’s positivity rate stands at 5.56 per cent.
