Officials deny rumours on youth’s suicide in Sircilla
'Rumours' were widely circulated in various social media platforms particularly WhatsApp that Chiluveri Goutham resorted to the extreme step after he was denied 2BHK house by the officials
Rajanna-Sircilla: A 32-year-old man committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at his house in Yellareddypet mandal headquarters on Thursday.
The incident caused a ripple in the area when it was widely circulated in various social media platforms particularly WhatsApp that Chiluveri Goutham resorted to the extreme step since he was upset over denial of double bedroom house by officials.
Dismissing the allegations, Yellareddypet Tahsildhar issued a statement pointing out that Goutham was not eligible for the double bedroom housing scheme. Moreover, it was established during preliminary investigation that he had committed suicide due to family problems, he said.
According to the Tahsildhar, revenue officials went into the Goutham’s application for a double bedroom house four times. The application was rejected after it was established during the enquiry that Goutham’s family had permanent houses besides two guntas of land.
The administration, he pointed out, had not received any objections from the people on the double bedroom houses beneficiaries list displayed on the gram panchayat notice board on November 11, 2020. Moreover, they had also not received any objections over rejection of Goutham’s application either in gram sabha or allocation of houses through draw of lots held on December 12, 2020.
Police are investigating the case. More details would come to light in the course of the investigation, the Tahsildhar said.
Police source said Goutham was working as a driver in Hyderabad. The youth, who fell in love and got married, frequently quarrelled with his wife. On Wednesday night, he again quarrelled with his wife and thrashed her up before committing suicide.
