In the video, the cooks are clearly pointing out worms in the rice that is used for cooking lunch for students. In reply, the officials are seen saying that “When the rice will be washed twice, the worms will vanish.”

Though the officials cannot be identified in the video, it exposed their negligence and apathy towards the students of Maganoor school. Nearly 50 students took ill after consuming worm-infested food on Wednesday and 15 of them were admitted for treatment to Government General Hospital, Mahabubnagar.

Again on Thursday, the students were served worm-infested food at the school. Already, three officials, including the DEO have been suspended and three more were issued show cause notices in connection with the incident.

It is also learnt that samples of rice and other ingredients used for cooking were collected and sent for tests at the food lab in Nacharam. The reports are expected to be issued in a few days and based on the outcome, the district administration will be taking future action.
