Hyderabad: Medicos and senior residents of Osmania General Hospital (OGH) on Monday announced the resumption of their strike from Tuesday, October 27, over unresolved grievances raised earlier.
The Osmania Medical College Junior Doctors Association (OMC JUDA) had launched its strike on Monday, October 12, and called off the protest the next day, October 13, following assurances from health authorities.
Despite repeated appeals, critical issues plaguing OGH have not been addressed by the health authorities, forcing JUDA to resume the strike.
Some of the key issues raised by the medicos include severe shortages of essential medicines, consumables, surgical implants and basic materials required for emergency and routine patient care.
Key diagnostic and therapeutic services, including the Cath Lab, the Cardio-Thoracic and Vascular Surgery (CTVS) Department, and Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) at OGH, continue to remain non-functional, they said.
The OMC JUDA said pending Aarogyasri funds had led to persistent delays in crucial medical investigations, clinical procedures and operation theatre functions.
The resident doctors also criticised irregular disbursement of monthly stipends and the absence of a dedicated Green Channel for administrative processing.
“The strike has been resumed in the interest of patient safety and the preservation of quality postgraduate medical education. Our agitation will continue until authorities provide concrete, written assurances regarding the fulfilment of their demands,” they said.
