Hyderabad: Olympics Silver Medalist Saikhom Mirabai Chanu on Sunday planted a sapling, giving a call to her supporters to do their bit to save the environment.
The move, which found resonance in Rajya Sabha MP J. Santosh Kumar’s Green India Challenge, saw the TRS MP lauding Chanu.
Chanu had planted saplings at her home town in Manipur and urged everyone to carry on their bit in saving the environment.
Santosh Kumar, lauding her, tweeted saying: “Impressive work from the champion. Congratulation on winning the silver. We are proud of you. Now, you steal our hearts by showing your concern for the nature. No wonder a person from Manipur doing this. But it certainly inspires many to replicate. #GreenIndiaChallenge. (sic).”
