Hyderabad: In a major surge of Covid-19 positive infections in the past 24-hours, Telangana on Tuesday reported 1052 infections out of which 659 cases were from areas under GHMC. In contrast, on Monday, a total of 482 positive Covid-19 infections were reported across the State out of which 294 were from areas under GHMC.

Health authorities on Tuesday also reported 2 fatalities, taking the overall number of deaths to 4033 in Telangana.


In a clear indication of Omicron variant spreading in other urban centres, a total of 116 Covid positive cases were reported in Medchal-Malkajgiri and 109 infections were reported in Rangareddy district. On Monday, Medchal-Malkajgiri had reported 48 positive infections while Rangareddy district reported 55 infections.

The total number of positive cases so far in Telangana has reached 6,84,023 while the number of active cases as on Tuesday was 4,858.

The authorities on Tuesday conducted 42,991 Covid tests of which results of 5,481 samples were awaited. A total of 240 individuals have recovered with a recovery rate of 98.70 per cent on Tuesday.

So far, a total of 2,98,40,610 Covid-19 tests have been conducted in the State out of which 6,84,023 have tested positive and 6,75,132 persons have recovered.

The Covid-19 positive cases reported from the districts included one from Adilabad, seven from Bhadradri Kothagudem, 659 from areas under GHMC, seven from Jagityal, two from Jangaon, one each from Jogulamba Gadwal and Kamareddy, 14 from Karimnagar, five from Khammam, three from Mahabubnagar, 17 from Mahabubabad, seven each from Mancherial and Medak, 116 from Medchal-Malkajgiri, one from Nagarkurnool, 12 from Nalgonda, one from Narayanpet, six from Nizamabad, 15 from Peddapalli, two from Rajanna Siricilla, 109 from Rangareddy, 13 from Sangareddy, four from Siddipet, 13 from Suryapet, four from Vikarabad, two from Wanaparthy, five from Warangal Rural, 15 from Hanumakonda and three from Yadadri Bhongir.
