Adilabad/Mancherial: A woman farm labourer died on the spot and three others sustained injuries when lightning struck them while they were engaged in agriculture work at Barampur village in Thalamadugu mandal on Tuesday. All of them are natives of Maharashtra.
Revenue authorities said the deceased was Sangeetha (38) from Kinwat taluq in neighbouring Maharashtra. The injured, also from the same place, were Kousalya, Sujatha and Arjun. They were shifted to Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS)-Adilabad where their condition is stable.
In a second incident, Gampala Bhumanna, a farmer, and his wife Laxmi sustained injuries when lightning struck them. They were under a tree at Sathmuri village in Sirikonda mandal. They were rushed to a government hospital in Echoda mandal and were out of danger. Four goats were killed after being struck by lightning at Choutapalli village in Thandur mandal.
