One dies, four injured in road accident in Karimnagar

Karimnagar: An elderly woman died, while four others, including a scribe working with a vernacular news channel, were injured when a family met with an accident just 500 metres away from their destination.
The incident occurred at Mahatmanagar in Thimmapur mandal, on the outskirts of Karimnagar town, late on Monday night.
The family from Sirpur Kagaznagar in Kumram Bheem Asifabad district had come to Karimnagar to visit relatives in Mahatmanagar.
After starting from Kagaznagar in the evening, the family reached Mahatmanagar after midnight. However, just five minutes before reaching their relatives’ house, they met with an accident.
The mishap occurred when the car in which they were travelling rammed into a roadside tree while attempting to avoid hitting a lorry.
While an elderly woman died on the spot, four others, including a scribe identified as Kiran, were injured. Local residents shifted the injured to the district headquarters hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.
