Peddapalli: An assistant manager died and three other workers were missing after the roof of an underground coal mine collapsed in Adriyala long wall project of Ramagundam on Monday morning. A search is on to locate the three missing miners.
Officials said coal mine accident was reported from Adriyala Long Wall Project of Ramagundam-III area of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) in Ramagiri mandal. Four miners working in 8th seam of the mine at the time of the roof collapse.
Preliminary reports said while Assistant Manager Teja died, the whereabouts of three other workers Jadi Venkateshwarlu (operator), Ravinder (Badili worker) and Pilli Naresh are not yet known. Support man, Meesa Veeraiah escaped from the incident with minor injuries and is undergoing treatment Singareni hospital.
Rescue teams rushed to the mine and launched an operation for the remaining missing workers. Though the incident took place at 10 am, Singareni officials kept the incident secret.
CM KCR expresses shock over the accident
Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has expressed his shock over the coal mine accident in Ramagundam and directed the SCCL MD Sridhar to take all possible measures to rescue the miners trapped in the mine. He asked officials to ensure best possible treatment for those injured. The SCCL MD informed the CM that efforts were being made to rescue people.
