Hyderabad: The Malkajgiri Police Special Operations Team along with the Uppal police and Agriculture Department officials on Tuesday raided Srinivasa Seeds and Pesticides shop and nabbed its owner, Ch Narsimha Reddy (60), on charges of selling spurious seeds and banned pesticides.

Police seized spurious seeds and pesticides worth Rs 2 lakh from him. According to the police, most of the vegetable seeds were past their expiry dates or spurious. They also found that pesticides of various companies were also past expiry dates. Narsimha Reddy was illegally selling these to farmers.

“Sub-standard and spurious vegetable seeds bags without any brand names, insecticides, pesticides and fertilizers also in huge quantities without proper labels were found,” officials said, adding that banned Glyphosate pesticides packets were also found in the shop. Reddy and the seized material were handed over to Uppal police for further investigation.
