Warangal Urban: Task Force police team led by Inspector Ch Srinivas Ji raided a house of one Mekala Rakesh at Madannapet village of Kamalapur mandal in the district on Thursday and seized seven bags and 38 packets of Amber (banned tobacco product) worth Rs 5,53,500. They also took Rakesh into custody before handing him over to Kamalapur police for further investigation.
According to a press note, the police team raided the house on credible information and found the tobacco products there. “The accused was involved in purchase and sale of gutka for some time now. A case was already registered against him under Sections: 420,270,273 and 188 of IPC, and 58 FSSA at Hasanparthi police station,” Srinivas Ji added.
Meanwhile, another accused in the case, Cholleti Rakesh of Ippalpally village in Kalva Srirampur, who is a resident of Hanumannagar, Hyderabad, is absconding. “There are five cases pending against Rakesh in different police stations in the State,” the Inspector said.
