Telangana: One Maoist killed in exchange of fire in Kothagudem
The police received information that the Cherla local organisaition squad (LOS) and battalion action team was moving near Kurnapalli- Bodhenalli area to commit offence.
Kothagudem: A Maoist was killed in an exchange of fire (EoF) that took place between police and CPI (Maoist) party cadres in the forests of Cherla mandal in the district on Sunday.
Superintendent of Police, Sunil Dutt in a statement informed that they received information that the Cherla local organisaition squad (LOS) and battalion action team was moving near Kurnapalli- Bodhenalli area to commit offence in connection with Maoist Martyrs Memorial Week being observed by the Naxals from July 28 to August 3.
Based on the information a search operation was launched with the special parties and in the morning while combing the area, police spotted around 10 armed Maoists at a distance of three kilometres east of Bodhenalli area.
At around 8.15 am the EoF took place between police and Maoists in the forest. After firing on either side ceased, the police searched the area and found the body of one dead male Maoist, aged around 23 year.
The police recovered the dead Naxal’s body along with a .303 weapon and two kit bags, further search is going on, Dutt said.
