Hyderabad: An international passenger who arrived at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad on Sunday from at-risk countries has tested positive for Covid-19.

The Covid positive passenger has been shifted to Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS), Gachibowli for isolation and blood samples were collected and sent for full genome sequencing by the surveillance teams of the Health Department.


At present, the Health Department is waiting for the genome sequencing results of four international passengers, who had arrived at Hyderabad airport from at-risk countries and tested Covid positive.

Since the special screening and on-the-spot RT-PCR tests were introduced for all the international passengers arriving at Hyderabad airport from at-risk countries, so far 17 passengers tested positive out of which 13 tested negative for the Omicron variant while genome sequencing results of four passengers is awaited. On Sunday, a total of 791 international passengers from at-risk countries had arrived here. So far, since December 1, Health Department conducted RT-PCR tests on 4,558 passengers.
