Hyderabad: An urban forest park offering lung space, another one with facilities for wide and varied sports, and a multi-purpose hall to gather around for functions and events. That’s the infrastructural developments awaiting residents around Kukatpally in the city.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Kukatpally Zone has come up with these three new facilities for those residing at Gajularamaram and Chintal. The Pranavayu Urban Forest Park along with a Sports park in Gajularamaram and a multipurpose function hall in Bhagat Singh Nagar, Chintal are ready for the inauguration with all works on the projects completed.
The Pranavayu Urban Forest Park developed with an estimated budget of Rs 11.38 crore, aims to offer recreational facilities to people of all age groups, said officials from GHMC. “The amenities at the lung space include a decorated entrance, gazebos, walking track and cycling track, washrooms, yoga shed, children’s play area, and a picnic area,” the official said.
The sports park in the TSIIC area, Gajularamaram ward, was built by the GHMC at an estimated cost of Rs 2.38 crore. Apart from basketball, the other sports facilities made available here include cricket, badminton, football, skating and cycling. The cricket is equipped with artificial turf.
Meanwhile, for the residents of Bhagat Singh Nagar, a new facility to hold functions, weddings and also conduct local events, a multi-purpose function hall has been built here by the civic body with a budget of Rs 385.32 lakh.
These multi-purpose function halls built in other parts of the city have already turned into a hit among people from economically weaker sections as the rental cost to lease the facility is very less compared to the ones operated by private players. Scores of families have used these facilities to perform marriages and organise other functions.
In addition to these facilities in Kukatpally GHMC zone, a foundation stone is to be laid for works pertaining to road widening and also for the construction of a flyover at Bachupally apart from nala works at Jeedimetla.
