One SIR notice pending in Telangana, 92.88 lakh generated

The ECI is yet to generate one notice under Telangana’s SIR of electoral rolls. As of September 28, 92,88,180 notices had been generated and 45,54,236 electors cleared for inclusion, while the final electoral roll is scheduled for November 9.

Hyderabad: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has remained stuck on generating one last notice, as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, for more than a month now in Telangana.

While 92,88,181 notices are to be generated for anomalies in the enumeration forms and SIR 2002 unmapped electors, the ECI generated 92,88,180 notices, with one pending since the notice phase that began on August 17.

According to sources in Telangana Chief Electoral Office, one last notice pending generation related to an elector in Rajendranagar Assembly constituency in Rangareddy district.

“The ECI might not have generated the last notice in the State due to technical reasons. But, all electors who have anomalies in the enumeration forms or remained unmapped with the SIR 2002 will be served notices before the November 5 deadline,” sources said.

The State has 3,38,26,448 voters and 2,64,87,213 submitted enumeration forms, while 73,39,235 voters have been categorised under the Absent Shifted, Death and Duplicate voter (ASDD) category.

Meanwhile, 48,88,076 electors who have been served notices were found eligible for inclusion in the final electoral roll till the last count on Tuesday. Of the total notices generated, 88,52,173 have been served to electors, leaving 4,36,007 pending.

The Electoral Registration Officers, Assistant EROs and BLOs have completed hearing of 61,87,444 electors, while 12,99,368 electors’ details were under verification with the district election officers.

As per the SIR revised schedule, individuals can raise claims and file objections on the draft electoral roll until October 7 and their disposal concludes on November 5 with final electoral roll publication scheduled for November 9.

The Telangana CEO has issued a proceeding informing the DEOs and EROs to direct the BLOs to conduct home visits to collect and upload documents on its unified ECINet portal for unmapped persons or those with logical discrepancies.

In-person hearings at the offices of EROs and AEROs would no longer be required except in exceptional circumstances, which would preferably be conducted online, sources said, adding that family members have already extended the provision of attending SIR hearings on behalf of electors.
