Hyderabad: Meet the young trio from Hyderabad who seeks to make a difference despite facing unprecedented difficulties and taking uncharted paths. When Vensy Krishna’s mother Sudha Rani was diagnosed with Covid-19, she spent a lot of time searching for a vacant bed in hospitals and called up almost all the hospitals. Luckily, her mother recovered at home under a doctor’s guidance.“But what about Covid patients who need a hospital bed and oxygen and couldn’t find any resource?” asks Vensy.

“A lot of big excel sheets with emergency resources are circulating on social media. It is not easy for people in emergencies to call each number and verify. I thought it would be better if we have a platform online that is easy to load, easy on the eye, and updated round-the-clock. I wanted to bridge the gap between supply and demand,” she adds.

Medha Kadri

When her friend Medha Kadri started a spreadsheet to list emergency resources in Hyderabad, Vensy joined in her efforts and decided to take it further with an app. She designed a no-code app hydcovidresources.com in just two hours and released the first version.

“The excel sheet that Medha created powered the app. Within the first one hour, we had 10,000 users. On the second day, celebrities including Priyanka Chopra started sharing about hydcovidresources.com on their social media accounts. We realised that there’s a huge demand for something like this and users are only going to get bigger,” says the lawyer-turned-entrepreneur.

She now works with her friends Medha and Abhishek Anirudhan, and a team of over 50 young Hyderabadi volunteers who are engaged in calling and verifying leads sourced from different platforms. The app, which is simple to use and navigate, provides leads on oxygen, plasma, Remdesivir, beds, ambulances, meal services, blood banks, and more. Even doctors can sign up and volunteer their services — paid or free.

The app has also now partnered up with the Telangana government to ensure a hassle-free experience and can be downloaded from ‘hydcovidresources.com’ and runs on multiple operating systems like Android and iOS. “The leads are updated throughout the day and volunteers work shifts. Our team is now planning to launch the app in a Telugu version,” she concludes.
