One student dies, five injured in a road accident in Kothagudem

The incident occurred when five students, studying at different schools at Paloncha and belonging to the mandal, were going back to their villages.

One student dies, five injured in a road accident in Kothagudem

Kothagudem: One student died and five others were injured when a speeding car hit an auto-rickshaw on the outskirts of Sitarampuram in Mulkalapalli mandal in the district on Tuesday.

The incident occurred when five students, studying at different schools at Paloncha and belonging to the mandal, were going back to their villages. The car going to Paloncha from Pusugudem in the mandal collided with the auto-rickshaw head on as a result of which the auto plunged into a roadside ditch and was severely damaged. The locals who witnessed the accident immediately informed 108 ambulance services and rushed the students to Paloncha Government Hospital.


Recha Eshwar (12) of VK Ramavaram, studying six the class at DAV School died on the spot. LKG student at DAV School, Aketi Satwika and third class student at Triveni School, Atiketi Tejakshith both from Subbanapalli; an eighth class student at DAV School , Recha Yeshwanth and UKG student at Regina Convent, Kunja Mokshith both from VK Ramavaram and auto rickshaw driver Atiketi Praveen of Pusugudem were being treated at the hospital.

The condition of the driver and two students was said to be serious. The locals alleged that the car driver was under the influence of alcohol and they saw liquor bottles in the car, which was damaged severely in the accident. The local police booked a case in connection with the incident and took up the investigation.
