Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao held the Congress government responsible for derailing Telangana’s decade-long progress within an year of its rule, pushing the State into a crisis with hollow promises. Reprimanding the Congress for failing to deliver on its electoral promises, he demanded that Congress Lok Sabha leader Rahul Gandhi to apologise to the people of Telangana for causing 10 years of destruction in a single year.

“Rahul Gandhi, who claimed that he will respond to Telangana’s call in ‘seconds,’ has been silent, while the Congress’s rule has unraveled the State’s prosperity,”, he said, in his open letter addressed to Rahul Gandhi on Monday, ahead of the latter’s visit to Telangana.

The BRS working president criticised the Congress government for deceiving the people of Telangana, with its six guarantees and 420 promises. “After 300 days in power, the Congress delivered almost nothing but disappointment,” he added, pointing out that only the single promise of free bus for women had been implemented out of all the promises made.

Rama Rao pointed out that farmers, the unemployed, students, police, government employees, handloom workers, and auto drivers have all been forced to hit the streets and protest under the Congress regime. Citing an alarming rise in suicides among struggling farmers and artisans, he said the Congress government’s policies have thrown the lower classes onto the streets.

He lambasted Telangana Congress leaders, including Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, for evading responsibility and misleading the public. He stated that the Congress exploited the people’s trust, with no loan waivers for farmers, no promised bonuses, and no progress in agriculture or public welfare. “Your Chief Minister imposed an unending ‘RR tax’ on people, creating a breeding ground for corruption,” he wrote, further charging the Congress with turning Telangana into a hub for scams.

The former Minister questioned the motives behind the expensive Musi River project and suggested it was intended to benefit the party’s Delhi leadership at Telangana’s expense. He also called out the Congress for its selective criticism of business entities like Adani Group, stating that “Congress’s alliance with Adani in Telangana contradicts their criticisms of BJP’s ties with industrialists.”

Rama Rao held Rahul Gandhi and the Congress leadership accountable for Telangana’s decline, asserting that their promises were nothing but betrayal of Telangana people. He demanded that Rahul Gandhi apologise to the people for leaving Telangana in a financial and social crisis, daring him to face the public and acknowledge his party’s failures, rather than hiding in Gandhi Bhavan.
