Hyderabad: The Covid induced business interruptions have forced the big companies to take the digital route for their operations. Marketing, among other functions, has been moved to the digital domain. Many corporates have now embraced work from home or anywhere model for many functions barring manufacturing and plant operations, according to Sameer Goel, managing director of fertilizer maker Coromandel International.

Two segments – food processing and pharmaceuticals – have been in the forefront of feeding the people and protecting the people, respectively, he said, adding people from several streams have joined hands to be Covid warriors.

“Marketing has predominantly moved into the digital realm,” said Goel, who is also the chairman of CII Telangana. Many companies across sectors will now have to play the catch-up to make up for the loss in business last year, particularly in the first half of the calendar year, he added.

“Health is now a focus once again, both for the individuals and corporates. While we were ill-equipped to handle the first wave of Covid, it is completely in our hands to ensure that the second wave does not happen. If that happens, we will go back in time,” he said.
